Saturday June 2, 2012, the adjustment period

down the road......

(actually across the Coquihalla highway)

over the mountains....................
still a lot of snow at the summit (1244 metres)

but things are blooming in Vancouver!

I had to go out to the Delta hotel in Richmond, and when I got there I saw an empty parking lot. (surreal in the sense that less than a week ago, it was full of the 25th anniversary Rick Hansen relay vehicles!)

While we were on the road, we were each allowed to keep one bin in the supply truck to keep our extra clothing and anything else we wanted to store.
Mine was packed full, accumulating a lot of clothing and souvenirs along the journey (and I think there is still a bottle of wine hiding in there somewhere!)

later on in the week, I tried the big city transit system, my niece Erin and I headed downtown to have an impromtu dinner with about 20 of the relay gang (no, we are not sick of each other yet) (it was a send-off for Hank and Wendy who are heading back out to Ontario)

Thursday was the last official day day for a lot of the relay staff (mine was week earlier).  I stopped by the office to give my niece a ride home and say a final hi and good-bye to some of the office staff. My timing was good, as Russ was showing everyone a video he had made of some of the relay moments, all to the tune of the "littlest Hobo's" theme song, (maybe tomorrow)

- The theme from “The Littlest Hobo” (1979)
[whistling intro]
There’s a voice that keeps on calling me
Down the road is where I’ll always be

Every stop I make, I’ll make a new friend
Can’t stay for long, just turn around and I’m gone again.

Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.

Down this road, that never seems to end,
Where new adventure, lies just around the bend.

So if you want to join me for a while
Just grab your hat, come travel light – that’s hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, the whole world is my home.

So if you want to join me for a while
Just grab your hat, come travel light – that’s hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.

[Instrumental Bridge]
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.

There’s a world, that’s waiting to unfold,
A brand new tale, no one has ever told,

We’ve journey’d far but, you know it won’t be long,
We’re almost there and we’ve paid our fare, with the hobo song.

Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.

So if you want to join me for a while
Just grab your hat, come travel light – that’s hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow, I’ll find what I call home
Until tomorrow, you know I’m free to roam.

Jamie, Mami, Otto, and Russ (and many more) great to see the family again.
