....and that's no yolk, folks!

Well, well, well, a gift from the "Sisterhood". A double yolker! (I'll explain later)

.....but first, looking out towards Mt. Baker, a Bloody Mary toast to the 4th of July holiday in the United States.....
......and a quick trip out to Ladner to see fellow Teamster peep........
......John and his wife, who were kind enough to take us out on a cruise of the Fraser River.
Houseboat living? Hmnnnnn........
......and only $289,000 for this 465 square foot beauty, plus moorage fees. Not Sold!
.... cruised past some of the fishing trawlers.......
........I hope my time off work weight gain isn't causing that wake, lol.
Thanks again, John!
Sad note, Junior and I had to drop off some household garbage at the facility in Coquitlam, I was shocked at the piles, never mind the smell. Doesn't look like much recycling is going on there, either.
That's it, enough of the big city! Time to take a cruise on the Coquihalla higway........
......all that driving makes one mighty thirsty, so our first stop was Shaughnessy's Cove on Okanagan Lake in Summerland.
Next stop was to see the "Sisterhood"! (That included my sis and "the girls"!
Unc has been busy creating thought-provoking art, like the railway spike, full featured, canine.
All smiles when you start your morning on the beach. (With a little shout out to Timmies)
......and it was a gorgeous, mostly smoke free, morning........
........and ended with a gorgeous, mostly smoke free evening.....(the forest fire situation was bad, and got a lot worse after we came home)
.......followed by a gorgeous sunset the next evening, yada, yada, yada.......
.....meanwhile back in the garage, Ritsue was stylin' on this vintage chopper.......
......and was getting quite chummy with the sisters.......
......and showing off her motorcycle prowess on the trail 70.
....a little toasty climbing into the car on more than one Okanagan morning. (almost 110 fahrenheit!)
....spent part of one day exploring around Summerland. This is an old cemetery with a view just off of Peach Orchard Rd.
.....touring around makes one awfully thirsty, so we had to refresh at the Summerland Heritage Cider Co. There were many choices, including the original apple, wirh cherry, peach, blackberry mint, and more.
....outside, the apple crop is coming along nicely, as shown by our lovely orchard model.
......the coffee at Granny's Fruit Stand in Summerland came highly recommended, and they did not disappoint.
We went to visit the family grave site in Penticton, the view looking north is stunning.
..... the warm Okanagan weather makes one awfully thirsty. (any excuse will do, lol) On this day it was Bad Tattoo Brewing close to the lake in Penticton.
...back to Auntie and Uncle's, Ritsue is back to modelling, this time this vintage Yamaha.
.....there's always some kind of prop around to make the most out of......
.....awwww, last night in town, until next time.......
....on the way home I thought it would be cool to visit Lightning Lakes in Manning Park, just off of the Hope-Princeton Highway. I was dismayed to see so many other people had the same idea.....
.....I will say, the gophers were more than happy to pose for a pic....
.....the spur of the moment thistle pic....
.....a few hundred metres north was 20 Minute Lake, which was a whole bunch quieter, ahhhhhh........
......a great souvenir of our trip to Auntie and Uncle's.......where's Waldo?
.....ha ha ha, there he is, what a piece of art!

Stay cool and you won't get hot........

Happy belated Canada Day!

Postings in the elevators in my building were warning people of the unbearable heat wave we experienced just over a week ago.
Even Mr. Robin knew something wasn't quite right.
The flowers were starting to wilt.........
....meanwhile at the Nikkei Cultural Centre farmer's market, Ritsue was finally able to get her hands on the much coveted and always in demand Ao Shiso Japanese herb!
The heat haze was blocking out our view of Mt. Baker......
It didn't matter which site you looked at, they all confirmed it was record breaking hot. 41 (105.8 f.) Celsius in Burnaby??
.......one degree did not make a difference......
....I think the car was a smidgeon off, lol......
..... oh ya, that's good to know!.....
..... selfie, stand in the middle of Kingsway in the blazing heat, like an idiot, shot...
......all night the cars lined up to get into McDonald's to presumably get their ice cream cone fix.....
On the Sunday or Monday, whichever was a degree warmer, lol, we bravely went outside of the condo main entrance for a good minute......
....later on I ventured over to the supermarket....
....the stairs outside of Highgate Shopping Centre had to be 5 or 6 degrees warmer, yikes!
......day 2 of let the heat melt your brain and stand out in the middle of Kingsway again, pic....
Then we got smart and reserved 2 lovely air conditioned V.I.P. seats at the Cineplex in Coquitlam. The icy cold beer? Say no more! (The only shows available were a horror flic and the Fast and Furious 9. We chose F9, and although it was way over the top stunt wise, it was entertaining enough.) Three hours of cool, yay!
Another good way to cool off was more cold beer, this time at the Gillnetter Pub in Coquitlam. Make sure you get a table close to the Fraser River, nice breeze.
.....the good luck, ladybug in the kitchen sink, pic.......
......all this time off waiting to start the Good Doctor season 5 helps me in formulating the perfect omelette.
......back to Canada Day. Fellow Teamster peep Ron told us about a fun event in Maple Ridge. You stay in your car and drive past many exhibits, performers, horses and farm animals. It was great.....
........to see this big and loud old bullfrog in one of the ponds as well......
......Canada Day cupcakes and more cool beverages, this time at the Maple Ridge Legion. (...a bit more of this blog theme here.....)
I don't know why I think it's so fun to trap all of the computer's Backgammon men, but it is. (Okay, I'll admit, I did have the setting on easy, but nonetheless!)
The random, cell phone in my shorts pocket, pic.......
.....meanwhile, back in Summerland, junior is nailing some more nature pics......

Two friends that live in Kamloops, B.C. posted pics of their outdoor thermometers last week, yikes!
The Monday was a bit hotter that the Sunday.
A little cooler at his place, lol.
Hyuk, I like this one.
