Day 5, day off......

Well, a day off for me, lol. Ritsue, her mom and sister headed out on their own on this Saturday. They took the sky-train downtown, then took an Aquabus over to Granville Island.
The aguabus selfie.
Another view of Vancouver. The weather wasn't our best June, that's for sure.

They had a good tour of Granville Island.
All that touring makes people awfully thirsty. (Should be the theme of the trip, "Get Thirsty!")
They finished their day in Gastown. That night we celebrated at home with my world famous Elk burgers. (Famous in my world, hyuk.)
On Sunday we started in North Nurnaby, where the locals know of another great view of Vancouver and beyond.
At the north end of Main St., you can see one of my favorite views, including the backside of Gastown.
We headed to Spanish Banks to enjoy low tide.
Seeing Vancouver from yet another angle.
Not sure what they're looking for.....
Next stop, Canada Place. Wow, there were 4 cruise ships in town on this Sunday.
....and the size!
Why so blue? (Actually, far from it. We were waiting our turn to ride on Fly Over Canada, the coast to coast flight ride.It was a blast!)

One last look around then it was time to eat.
We celebrated at Cin-Cin Italian restaurant on Robson Street downtown. Yay, bro Skip and my nieces were able to join us.  A lovely last supper in Canada for Ritsue's mom and sister.
  • At the airport the next day Ritsue presented her mother and sister these lovely Okanagan fridge magnets we bought them in Peachland.
A little quiet these days at the condo since Reiko and Chioko have gone back to Japan. The door is always open for a return visit.

Day 4, not enough time.

Another grand view of Okanagan Lake from our room.

We didn't make it up to Munson Mountain, not enough time on this trip.
A stroll on the pier outside of our hotel.
I spy with my little eye, the S.S. Sicamous.
We went to the Summerland Ornamental Gardens on this morning.
Saw this Quail's egg on the ground with no home in sight.
Looking across to the Summerland Railway Trestle.
One more look around the gardens, and then it was off to........
Summerland Sweets. Funny, none of us took pictures of the inside. If you're in the area, it's worth the trip. Fruit sweets, jams, and jellies. Also Sleeping Giant fruit wine tasting, and to finish it all off, an ice cream cone!
Looking west from the trestle.
That is a long way down, they said.
It sure is.
One last good-bye to Aunt and Unk. Love that 1959 license plate on his truck, who would be thoughtful enough to get him that, hmnnnnnn.
Time to get going. A quick stop at Skaha Lake in Penticton. This is looking south towards Okanagan Falls.
The kids are back at it!
Yup.
We hit the road on the Hope-Princeton highway. Took a break at Lightning Lake in Manning Park.
Crazy, there were gophers everywhere. (I just googled it, and apparently they are Columbian Ground Squirrels, my bad.)
It was a quick, because it was a little cool and windy, stop. Finished the day back in Burnaby.
The one last shot from the Summerland Trestle, pic.
Bring on the week-end! (but first, when we got back, bring on the wings at Wings!)
