Smoke gets in your eyes.......

What a week. The smoke from all of the forest fires in British Columbia made it's way to the lower Mainland. At times the air quality in parts of B.C. was amongst the worst in the world.

A hazy view of downtown Vancouver as I cross the Cambie St. bridge on my way to pick-up cast.
Up north, in Prince George, the smoke was so bad, daytime was looking like night.
All smiles on the set of season two of the Good Doctor. We have just finished filming the 5th episode.
(left to right: Carly (Glassman's receptionist), Nick (Melendez), Fiona (Reznick), Hill (Andrews), Antonia (Brown), and Will (Park).
A surprise on this day for breakfast, fried chicken. (hey, why not?)

A little homey touch. Teamster peeps Mike and Jim tend to one of the many flower pots our captain Ward has placed around the base camp.
Another smoky day at the Bridge Studios

...and there they go. Every night around dusk, hundreds of crows fly over the Bridge Studios on there way to their overnight hangout nearby.

My background buddie Ed Rocker snapped this pic of me in my bitchin cast ride and posted it on his blog.

Looking out on Burrard Inlet from the convention centre, another nebulous day.
Later in the week, it cleared up enough to get a good view past the Olympic cauldron into downtown.

Whoa! These cool rides belong to another show that will soon start shooting at the Bridge, Lost in Space. (Netflix)

Bored, standing by, in depends on how you look at something, pics.

on the net.....

You know, this almost looks staged

well, that's one way to get a car wash

Settling in......

There he is! Ed Rocker is back doing background on the Good Doctor. He has been moonlighting as a stand-in on another show filming in Vancouver, the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
(this is a link to his blog about his film adventures)
Heading across the Cambie bridge for an early morning cast pick-up. The landscape has changed immensely in the last couple of years. The condo boom continues.

Waiting to pick-up a new guest star for episode 205, I was early at Vancouver International Airport, so I had a little time to stretch out and watch the planes landing.

This picture is deceiving. It was so busy at the airport today, I had to wait nearly 3 hours for the guest star. (they need to apply for a work permit when they land.) Obviously she was the last in line, when she came out there was no-one left!

Wow!, I'm parked outside of San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. (aka: Surrey city hall)
That's a helicopter at the front of the hospital, nuff said.

The menu changes every day. (yes, we are so spoiled)

The soups and desserts rock as well.

On this day we took over a quiet street in New Westeminster.

That's how we roll....

I say this plume of toxic smoke when I was heading to work mid-week. Turns out it was a scrap vehicle fire on a barge on the Fraser River. The cloud made it's way across the lower mainland, including our studio. I, and others started to experience sore throats from the acrid smell.

We spent most of the episode at the studio. Yes, that is about all I can show of the ER of the hospital.

Well, here is a little more of the hospital, so quiet after wrap on another week.
Back in the real world, what has Unc. (my brother-in-law) acquired now???????

from the web, maybe humans can learn from this smart dog

obvious, sad reality

and you thought ostriches were mean......

6 days a week........

Wow, we are already on the 4th episode of the second season of the Good Doctor. (This shot would be if you were lying on the operating table looking up, except I am sure when it hits your t.v., the roof and rigging on the stage would disappear.
It seems now every summer we have to deal with the smoke and haze from the many forest fires burning in British Columbia. Let's hope it breaks soon.

Second season of the Good Doctor has provided many surprises, on and off the set. Hard to tell to the untrained eye, but this is the newest wardrobe trailer in Vancouver. (We also have the newest "honey wagon", make-up trailer, and 6 new cast star trailers, complete with satellite t.v.!)

Looking for a particular pic in my blog archive lead me to this blast from the past, when I had a chance to kiss the boar for the second time at Curly Portables in Enfield, Nova Scotia while on the 25th Anniversary Rick Hansen relay.

The first time was during the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay, wow, that's a lucky boar right there.
Back in the San Jose Bonaventure Hospital, one of the many props, a transfusion machine lies dormant.

OMG!, the caterers did it again! This time the dessert was a chocolate, raspberry log. As much as I wanted to devour the whole thing, I managed to restrain myself to one thin slice, (wink)

The sun sets on another heat wave day on the Good Doctor.

Yes, this is about all I can show of the hospital set.

We had to work a 6th day this week for an ABC t.v. promotional shoot. The caterers gave me some comfort food!, they rock!

Waiting for a new guest star to arrive at Vancouver International Airport.

Saturday, I ended up driving this bad boy. The promo shoot gang needed someone to lift there half a million dollar robotic camera into a truck to move to the next set, and I was the only one close by. (Ironically, I have a lot of experience, although it's been years. Just like a bicycle....and yes I did sweat a little over this move.)

The last scene of the promo shoot was with a transit bus in the studio parking lot.

Apparently they needed a little???? smoke for atmosphere.
On Sunday, I went to the Powell Street Festival, showcasing the Japanese Community in Vancouver.

Wood fired Barbeque, yum!

In the Japanese Language School building, on the 4th floor, there was a presentation on the bombing of Hiroshima. Having been there just last year, I listened very solemnly.

My brother's girlfriend Doris, showed off one of the delicacies, spam sushi! I had some in April in Hawaii with Ritsue, sorry, not a fan, haha.

If you like crowds and hot, (atsui) weather, then this was the place.

on the web...…...
