Morning view from our hotel in Hiroshima.......
......and there it is, the Genbaku Dome.
Time to get outside.....
7 more sleeps until the G7 summit in Hiroshima.
Hmnnn, not sure how to take that......
Have not been to Peace Memorial Park since 2017. The reality that this actually happened leaves me stupefied.
We visited another building close by, the Rest House. (originally the Fuel Hall). When the atomic bomb was dropped only the basement of the building was left. One man, Eizo Nomura was in the basement at the time. He was the only one of 37 people that occupied the building that survived. (He lived to be 84 years old)
The shell of the bank building also withstood the blast.
It was approximately 380 meters from the hypocenter. 42 people inside perished.
Went into the shopping district......
These places just seem to find us, lol.
Waiting for the train, heading back to Ritsue's mom's place.
Looks like Soramame beans to me.
Hmnnnnn, the right accompaniment? (can't make a wrong choice here)
The slice of cucumber was to show the scale of those beans. Is it about the size of your beans?
.....and they were totemo oishii!
Was treated to a lovely lunch at Inaka Chaya with some of Ritsue's old co-workers.
My kind of place (not the sitting cross-legged on a bamboo mat part), lot's of clutter.
We were offered a ride home with her friend. Never been in a vehicle that has a t.v., never mind one that lets the t.v. continue to play as we drove, not too distracting.
Another great outing.
