The Good Doctor episode 309

Spur of the moment is good...……(I'll explain later)
The week-end prior I had a chance to take junior out for a belated birthday dinner. We went to Gotham Steakhouse. The gave us a tablet to peruse the drink menu.

The prices were, well...…...

The main entrees were, well...…….

We settled on a winery I am very familiar with, LaFrenz, on the Naramata bench close to my home town of Penticton.

That's a lot of meat, right there, driver.

It was still an enjoyable outing.
As we strolled towards the skytrain station to head home we decided to go over to Rogers arena and see if, by chance, ……..

…..we could score some last minute tickets to the concert...….

…..there was one scalper left outside, he had two tickets which he said were behind the stage, but they turned out to be a pretty dandy view of Elton John.
(and that was what the first picture was all about)

Even though we were an hour late getting in, we still got to hear 1 1/2 hours of all his classics

He came out for 3 encore songs!

Back to reality, actually, back to make believe land. An early morning cast pick-up close to Kingsway and Broadway. The first episode of season 3 of the Good Doctor has already aired, while we are filming the 9th episode.

Ha! Down at the Sutton Hotel, ran into fellow cast driving peep, Jim, who is helping out on a new show called Firefly Lane. Hope to see him back on the Good Doctor soon.

Haha, it almost looks like a police line-up. Actually, it's just some fellow Teamsters, Aaron, Jaz, Mike, Eugene, Rocky, and Greg awaiting the Teamster lunch. (1/2 hour before everyone else, a tradition I do not know the history of.)

Lighting up the neighbourhood at Vancouver Community College, which  fronts as the hospital cafeteria.

We are truly blessed by our caterers. Today, they bought a brand new industrial juicer. Fresh fruit and vegetable juice every morning if you like.

Round and round, back downtown, this time my route of choice was Venables, and a straight shot to the downtown core.

Sitting on the main street of the Bridge Studios on Friday, I have a feeling this may turn into...….

……..and it did, a Fraturday.

Meanwhile, back in Hiroshima, the feast has been prepared.....

.....and a gorgeous sunrise at Ritsue and her mother's house.
.....for the guests of honor, none other than my bro Skip, and his girlfriend Doris. Ritsue and her mother shared their world for 4 nights.
One of the many places Ritsue took them was the Kintai bridge, which she also took me to back in 2017

The Good Doctor season 3, episdoes 308 and 309

Will be tomorrow night! The long wait for the third season is over.

A shot from season 3 with Dr. Murphy (Freddie Highmore), Dr. Glassman (Richard Schiff), and Debbie Wexler (Sheila Kelley)

A shot of the radiant Dr. Lever, (Jasika Nicole)……...

…… as she has a most interesting dinner date with Dr. Murphy.
One of my duties includes picking up the dry cleaning. Today it included the doctor's hospital coats.

Cool old apartment in Mount Pleasant close to a cast member I was waiting to pick-up.

Later on, same neighbourhood, different cast member.

On of the other shows under the Brightlight pictures umbrella, Firefly Lane, was short-handed a needed a cast driver for the afternoon. I took a cast member out to a farm location set way out in Langley. I scouted these locations with the producers a couple of months ago. Today base camp was on another farm that had an amazing sunflower field.....

…..and a pumpkin patch!

This barn kitten was not impressed.

Later in the day I was back on the Good Doctor, which was filming tonight in Burnaby, above the studios. Close to the Melendez house was this great view of downtown Vancouver at sunset.
Cast Driver pet peeve. Come on fellow Teamster brethren from other shows! Do not drop your dry-cleaning at the door of the cleaners, making it hard for others to get to the alarm you need to shut off to get in! Lazy!

….one morning in Kitsilano picking up cast......

…..and the same view the next day.

A nice tranquil spot to wait.

My hieroglyphics trying to figure out who is picking up and dropping off the various cast, execs, directors, and writers we had on Friday. We were filming 2 episodes on the same day, it got a little confusing at times.

Episode 308 ended at Playland at the PNE. (all I can say, haha, as usual)

Hey, wait a minute, where are we??
It's been many years since I rode on this bad boy. (The production was offering free rides to the crew. I did not partake, I had to wait on cast, meh!)

Apparently this wooden roller coaster has been around since 1958.

…..all in all, everyone was in good spirits, even if it did turn into a fraturday.

The power and the Good Doctor

My new ride! (At least for four of my days last week). I had the honor of driving executives from the U.K. as they scouted out locations in and around Vancouver to see if they were suitable for a t.v. series adapted from a bestselling novel.
We started off at the Vancouver Convention centre.
They, and myself, were not impressed by the locations in the downtown eastside. The drug and homeless problem just seems to be getting worse.

They scouted out the VanDusen botanical gardens, a place I have heard wonderous things about, but alas, I have never been.

We scouted an old fish packing plant in Ladner.

This is a small town I could live in. Too bad it's so far from most of the studios.
One of my favourite filming location, Steveston. I spent a lot of time working here on the show Once Upon a Time, which used Steveston to replicate the fictional town of Storybrooke.

We also looked at Britannia Shipyards National Historic site.

Bulrush pic.

I would love to come back and spend some more time here.

Life on the Fraser River.

The journey took us to a high school in Langley.

It also took us to a late lunch. I had the yummy tuna poke bowl at Cactus Club in Coquitlam.
Back at the Bridge Studios, at the end of each day I was converted back to a Good Doctor cast driver. I was walking by one of the stages on another show, and spotted this bedroom set.

I had a hitchhiker on my tire. (you can imagine that did not last very long)

On one of the days, they all rode the Grouse Mountain gondola to the top of Grouse to scout around up there. Unfortunately, someone had to stay back with the shuttle, meh.

Then they looked at view homes in West Vancouver. Well that is quite a view alright.

Also on the list was golf courses. We stopped at Capilano Golf and Country club in North Vancouver.

Hanging outside the clubhouse.

Then it was on to Furry Creek Golf and Country club...…..

……..the gardens were quite beautiful.

Driving on these scouts means I also get invited to lunch. The Halibut and chips were the special at the Olive and Anchor in Horseshoe Bay.

More homes to see in West Vancouver. This is one of the more interesting front yards.

The next day we started out at Locarno Beach in Vancouver.

The end of the day was many miles away at the soggy Swaneset Bay Golf and Country club in Pitt Meadows. We also scouted Langley and Fort Langley, but it was raining so hard, we never even got out of the shuttle.

Then it was over, for now. I dropped them off at the Sutton Place hotel, then went back to my Good Doctor world.

Started this day at Olympic village. I was waiting to pick-up the producer of the Good Doctor.

Can't show much of the sets, but I can show the space between the hospital and the ambulance bay, lol.

A soggy end to the week, but once again, not a fraturday, yay!

One of the news feeds that appeared on my cell phone.
