liquid sunshine........

Ahhh, yes, the fall weather is upon us. All I can do is hunker down at our filming location in Coquitlam.

More hunkering at the Bridge Studios.....

and more as we do a Fraturday at....

…..….. VCC. (Vancouver Community College)

Back at the studio, the weather co-operated on this day. In my rearview mirror, I spy our 2nd AD, Brian, talking with Richard Schiff, who plays Doctor Glassman on the Good Doctor.

Had a beer at Toby's on Commercial Drive with fellow Teamster peep, Ron, after our monthly union meeting.

A foggy start to my day.

I had to retrieve an iPad for this episode's director from her room at the Sutton Place hotel. That's an OK view.

Officially the smallest pick-up I have ever done for any of the departments.
4 miniscule screws.
Back in Coquitlam, we filmed at the Mr. Pets pet store, OMG, wait until you see that episode. (super cute spoiler alert)

One night our base camp was parked outside of B.C. Place stadium.

Another view looking east towards Science World.

The runway is pretty clear at the Bridge studios on this night.

Lily has done it again. Our catering dessert maker knocked this cake out of the park!

The respect I get from my daughter, lol. (made me laugh when I found it on my coffee table when I got home from work)

Out for junior's birthday, the tuna tower at the River's Reach pub in New Westminster hit the spot for me.

2 kids with that,  "dad's at it again", look.

The night before, junior celebrated with his grip peeps at the Black and Blue Restaurant downtown Vancouver. At an average price of $22 per ounce for this Japanese wagyu beef, well, you do the math...…….
The sun sets on another filming day on the Good Doctor. (8 episodes down, 10 to go for season 2)
Driving home Dr. Aoki on the show (Tamlyn Tomita), she asked if we could stop at T & T supermarket on the way to pick-up ingredients for her famous "crack sushi."

They have a huge selection of Asian goodies.

Back at the studio, turning one of the stages into an Emergency room ambulance bay.

Our craft service (basically our snack truck) person, Kelly, provided these candies for the crew that her husband brought back from a business trip in Tokyo.

One of my favourite views while driving around Vancouver. This is looking north on Boundary road towards the North Shore mountains.

I usually do not have much for breakfast on set. Today I decided to order an omelette from the caterers, and boy, did  they deliver!

The Good Doctor himself, Freddie Highmore was busy making the rounds on late night T.V. (Here he is on the Late Show with Seth Meyers)
….sums it up alright....
Yup, I've heard it.

This eagle landed on this guy's boat on Shuswap lake, about 5 hours or so northeast of Vancouver.

You might have to zoom in to see any humour in this pic.

…..I'd say that's a wee bit of a traffic snarl....

…….NO WAY!

I'm not sure if that is any more convenient than towing it.

Well, not quite...…..

who gives a hoot.......

The newest addition to my family. I am trying it out, my condo building is starting to have a pigeon problem. I doubt this owl will scare them, it only makes me laugh!
Finally some clearer weather after all of the smoke.

A gorgeous morning down at Olympic Village looking across False Creek.

At the Bridge studios, the other show, Lost in Space was testing out the "rain towers"'.

Oh, look at me with my big idea, groan...….

We have a new visitor to San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital! Ritsue has travelled all the way from Hiroshima to check out the set of the Good Doctor.
And she even got her own guest chair! (well, at least while the film crew was on lunch, haha)

Wow, we have a new "A" camera operator!

Ritsue brought many gifts to whet my pallete.

We went to a Vancouver Canadians baseball game. Our 5,000 seat Nat Bailey stadium is tiny compared to the 33,000 seat Mazda Zoom-Zoom stadium where the Hiroshima Carp play.

Throwing down peanut shells is part of the whole experience.

Boy, what an enjoyable mess.
Yay! A chance to pose with Bob Brown bear, the C's mascot.

We had a great evening hanging with my brother Skip, and his lady friend Doris.

We took the sky-train home, and yes, on a full train, we got to see "that person".

We finished the week off, by jumping on this West-Jet "Disney" plane, destination......
looks kind of prairie-ish, and yes it was, yay Alberta!

We spent the first night in Innisfail, population 7,847. A chance to see my buddy Greg, and his wife Gaye. We have been friends for over 40 years, yikes! It was nice to have a back-yard fire. (The W flag is something you put out when the Chicago Cubs baseball team win a game!)

The next day, it was time to get on the road. After picking up my sis at the Edmonton International Airport, we made our first stop in Edmonton. (The airport is in a town called Leduc.)  First stop, Edmonton, population 980,000.

But first, we had to selfie!
Second stop Vegreville, look at my sis holding up the world's largest Pysanka! (easter egg, duh!)
Hahaha, look at Ritsue trying to make it look like sis is holding up the large ouef.

I'm not saying parts of Alberta are really flat, (yes, I am) but here is Vegreville looking west....

and looking east......

Hey look, Ritsue is outstanding in her field!

So many, many moons ago, I would visit my sister Gail in small  town Minburn, Alberta. This gas station was still in operation.

This hotel in Minburn had become a private residence. It used to have a bar as well, the bald eagle inn. (I remember, fuzzily (if that's a word, well it is now) that it was a fun time on a Friday night back in the day, y'all)
We finally made our destination, Vermilion, Alberta, population around 4,100. A long overdue reunion with my niece, "Baby Tami".

The real reason for the trip, my grand-niece, Meagan, was getting married. Oh so cute, the ring bearers.

Equally as cute, the flower girls.

Here comes the bride, escorted by her father, John

This was a very Catholic ceremony, it reminded me of a church service.

The vows....
Sign on the dotted line and it's official, you're married. Congrats Meagan and Nathan.

My and sis enjoying the ceremony.

That's a cute couple right there.....

Cruising down the Vermilion strip, I love small town Alberta!

Random, having a snack after the ceremony, no one will eat the last nacho chip, shot.

Later in the afternoon, it was time to hit the road to the reception.

Digging the farmland, so to speak.

The traffic was atrocious.

One more hill to climb.....

One more farm field, and your there.....
The Clandonald (population 109) community hall, the site for the wedding reception.

The newlyweds first dance.

Omg! We had no idea Clint and Barb would be there! (Sister and Brother-in-law of our late sister and Meagan's grandmother, Gail.) They still look the same as the last time we saw them, many moons ago.

The proud father John, and one of his two sons, Taylor.

That's a keeper photo right there, sis Tammy and niece baby Tami.
A pic with the newlyweds before it was time for us old folks to head back to the hotel.

We watched them cut the cake before we headed out.

The next morning, these are the sights you will not see in Vancouver

Sitting at the Edmonton International airport waiting for our flight back to Vancouver.

I do not think this plane was the newest in the fleet.

After Ritsue left on an all too short visit, it was back to the reality of the Good Doctor and Vancouver.

Reality? That's one big bird down in Olympic village.

On this day, this was my reality, waiting for cast was like and was staring at a brick wall.
Web this week.... geesh….

how to spend you break properly

hand in hand

hmnnn….

telling....
