The Good Doctor episode 103

A calm start to the week on the 3rd episode of the Good Doctor, set to air on ABC on September 25th.
I love my early morning director pic down by Coal Harbour, close to Stanley Park downtown Vancouver.

It was early enough that I had to go to the only Starbuck's open in the area, across from Canada Place.

One of the different duties in my day was to go and take pictures of this old school bus for production to decide if it will fit a scene in one of the episodes. I'm pretty sure this beast is parked for good.

Jeez Louise! (I will not let on that I had a past in bus driving, because this one, I'm not driving!)

Omg, cannot say enough about Jon and the rest of the Rain City catering gang. My breakfast sandwich rocked, the avocado was the difference.

Here we go, the start of our 3rd Fraturday in a row. (Although it was a very scenic and quiet neighbourhood in the town of Port Coquitlam. )

Beautiful view of the North Shore mountains.

This was the beginning of our 3rd Fraturday in a row. What they call a process trailer, the actors will ride in the car as they drive around the city streets. The camera will capture the actors as well as the scenery as the trailer moves.

My peeps, Ward, Dino (camera shy), Rocky, Ken, and Lance chilling out waiting for lunch.

and there is Lance (with hair, lol) as a stunt double for the bus driving actor.
Day 7 for Edwin on our show. We end up sharing pics for each other's blogs.

Then on the web.............

I understand this picture less than the flashlight news story above.

no thanks
right to the point

a proud moment?

This is a good pic from the recent total eclipse. The fact the grazing cow is oblivious to what's going on is udderly ridiculous!

Back to reality in make believe land....

Almost ready to get back to work after my all too short Japan vacation. After a night with the kids at Phantom of the Opera......
and a Sunday afternoon  lunch with junior at the Gillnetter pub in Port Coquitlam.....

(that had a lovely view of the Fraser River)....

and a quick check on my tomato plants......
and one more glorious sunset from my balcony....
it was back to work. Wow, a lot has happened at the Bridge Studios since I was last there. They are tearing down the special effects stage for new studio and parkade space.

uhhhh, my name?, it's Monty M-O-N-T-Y, thank-you....
Really?

Day 1. Filming begins on a new series set to air on ABC in September called "the Good Doctor." (from the creators of House).

and there he is, the number 1 background performer, Ed Rocker! (He has his own blog.) Later on, he became a doctor and has been with us many days so far.

One night we were filming in Delta. Here is what they call a process trailer. The actors sit in the car while it is towed around the streets, to simulate a driving scene.

At the Sutton Hotel waiting for cast, the chances of 2 Ferraris' parked out front. I think I should ask for one on the next show, I'm sure the cast would appreciate it.
waiting to pick-up cast at Vancouver International Airport, is this the plane?

Back at the studio, all quiet in the operating room.....

British Columbia has had an unprecedented number of forest fires this year. Even though the fires were over 200 km. away, the wind blew the smoke into the lower Mainland. It stayed for 2 weeks before the winds changed.
One of my duties this week included a trip to the Porsche dealership in Vancouver. They had a Porsche 918 Spyder there. It was not for sale, but the salesman told me, if it were, it could fetch as much as $1.2 million!

Poor me, I only got to drive this Cayenne SUV...
why the hand holds on either side of my skinny legs?

at the end of the week, it was into the Smokey Mountains. (actually, the Coquihalla highway heading to the Okanagan, the forest fire smoke was so thick.)

To my high school grad reunion. (I won't reveal how long it has been, but, for a hint, it rhymes with Morty.) Here's a shot of my buddy Greg, who I have been friends with since we were 14, and Donna, who I remember I had a bit of a crush on when we were both in chemistry 11.
and a visit to my sis and brother-in-law's house in Summerland, wow, looks like there's a new cock on the block.

and hens...

Powell Beach in Summerland. The forest fire smoke made for a unique evening scene.
And it continued as I had dinner with my daughter at the Boathouse Restaurant in Port Moody.

Next week, down by Stanley Park in Vancouver, waiting for cast, the marina  looked smokey. The smoke was so thick, you cannot see the North Shore Mountains.

Back at circus (base camp) Ward has stepped up his game with the flowers and palm plants. (you no idea what a moral booster this is.)
Exciting enough (because I'm really not allowed to speak of any of the filming of this show), really cool to see a helicopter land on the heli pad above the old Canada Post building on Hamilton in downtown Vancouver.

Outside set, strange to me to sit on the street I have battled traffic on so many times on my way to pick-up cast.

Back on set, could it be, my transport coordinator Andrew double dipping as a fork-lift driver?

One of our scenes was a this rural farm (yes there is farm land left in the Vancouver area) in Delta.

The track was set up so the camera could move with the actors as they walked.

and right down the road was the might Fraser River.

A unique way to live
This was a true fraturday. The day stretched well into the evening.

at the end of the night, we had to move all the trucks from Delta back to our studio in Coquitlam. I was brought out of truck-driving retirement, and ended up driving this grip truck. (just like riding a bike, right?)

and the view at my condo when I got home.........so strange to go to bed when everyone else in the non-film world is just getting up or finishing their night of sleep.
On this day, we took over a gas station in Burnaby. (does that mean we are in San Jose"....)

Michelle was filling in for the vacationing Jim. There she is with the 4 cast vehicles used on the show. (mine is in the forefront)

back behind our circus, off of Kensington Ave. in Burnaby, I filled my face with the abundant amount of blackberries growing wild.

It's worth it to get downtown a little early for your early morning pick-up. Then you have a little time to enjoy the scenery, today it was Coal Harbour

A first for me, a pick-up for our hair department at Fine Edge Beauty and Barber just off of Main Street on 3rd ave. in Vancouver.
Today I learned, if you do not have a boar bristle brush, you may as well not even brush you hair, lol.

Tonight we took over the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood by Main and 8th. We were at the Nice Café.

I was intrigued by this pub across the street. I will be back to the 8 1/2 restaurant lounge on my own time soon.

A website back in  the Okanagan posted this local  poll about Trump. I was shocked to see the results from the area I grew up in.
Another day, not another new location. We were filming at the now closed Riverview Mental Hospital. I have probably been on at least 20 productions that have filmed here over the years.

This week's fraturday (Friday turning well into Saturday) was in Newport village in the city of Port Moody. We filmed a car/motorcycle accident.

Emergency Emergency! Another one of my tasks. The make-up department on set needed the actor's make-up bag stat!

Interesting part of the filming process. They had a police car up against a big screen that had a video of moving traffic. Somehow they will tie it all together to make it look like the cop car is actually travelling down the road.

There he is again, the Ed Rocker! (number one extra in Vancouver). He is posing with Tim, also a cast driver on this show, like myself. They actually new each other even before their film lives.

Our caterers, Rain City, are considered one of the best in the industry. The menu today made me salivate.

and I made a total pig of myself, but really, these guys rock!
It's been awhile, so I have added a lot of pics I stole off of the net.

I've seen this, but not to this extent.
''

I need confirmation that this actually happened.

wow, I'm old

fair warning?

jeez, maybe you should have forgone last call.
